Dear Bloggie,

Like wise, after 1 semester i shall drop by. This semester has been slightly late because I am having my industrial training. Industrial training will last for 3 months. I am currently undergoing my internship in Kerteh, Terengganu. Ya! Kerteh, Terengganu! I know, I know, people has been asking me why dont i just do it in Miri, or at least somewhere nearer in the East. Well, the reason is as simple as I understand that there are more things to learn here, so I decided to come for the exposure.

It's my first time being away from home, it's not so bad. Just some cockcroaches and big spider in my room and power failure and bad internet connection. Like.....=.= But seriously, apart from that, everything is good. They have fantastic Malay local food like keropok Lekor, Tom yam, Nasi Dagang, Nasi Minyak, Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Lemak and many many more nice local food.

The place I am staying is a very small town but with big Oil and Gas industry. The layout of O&G here is just Fantastica! Especially night view~ Some new experiences I have are like seeing wild boar at rubbish dump eating, hornbills flying around my apartment and office area, iguana crossing the road, cow near my office at night, cow dunk around the road (like dog poop but extra big), and goats walking around by the road eating grass (like dog too) and also goat died by the road side bang by car. Well, I find it quite interesting.

Not to mention, people here are nice and friendly. Im glad to meet some Catholic family who is very warm in hospitality, helping me to settle into my accommodation because it has been hard to find information in the internet as they have very limited info of this place. Some more, the flying date is only during Monday to Thursday and weekend is on Friday and Saturday. So, to access this area is a bit inconvenient. I manage to get a accommodation with a walking distance of 3 minutes to my office. Thus, not so bad.

Enough of my long essay, I think it's about time for me to photo log my pass 1 semester before anything happen to the internet again. haha

ok, ok... i know i am very late.. hehe.. Pre Chinese New Year 2011 baking with my uni friends.

This post is specially for Jeannie my dear before I leave for travelling. She's leaving for Perth soon and I know I won't be back in time before you leave. I guess the next time we meet could be after half a year, or maybe a year. Hope this blog will not only help me keep my memories, but also yours. You have been a special and supporting friend from the day I met you. A bit blur blur but still good. haha.. Gonna miss you much. Hope this friendship will remain the same the next time we meet again. ;) I also pray that you have a safe journey and a beautiful start of life. Yow all,

As usual, it's end of the semester and here this little buggy girl will drop by her blog and write how she feels about the semester. hehe..

It's been about a week after finals. This semester has been really really busy. Time pass so fast when we're busy. This is semester is the fastest I ever experience. Maybe because Curtin took away 1 week of tuition free week. Frankly, I felt nothing much super excited like I use to do. Just hope everything will goes well.

So after the last paper in the morning, my course mates and I drove down to Brunei for Sushi Lunch like last semester. Then we had badminton at night; movie marathon the next day, hang out with my grandma, then it was Yeo's birthday, and catching up with my civil group friends, and today I'll be going for a meeting and a talk. It was pretty occupied so far. I'll be leaving for Kuching - Penang - KL next week. and, there goes my 1 month. haha..

There is also so much that I owe to this blog. So much that I want to do during the holiday...Will try to update more in this blog. =)

Outing With Tai Che

I usually hang out with my Tai Che, who is also my godmother. Why is it Tai Che then godmother? Long story. haha.. She is a special and beautiful woman who always share with me and reminds me of my faith. =)

We went for ABC in Miri old town area..

Then we went shopping around and we met up with mom at Siamese Secret for dinner.

Kuching Trip January 2011

In January this year, I went to Kuching for a few days trip during my holiday. Was there to accompany grandma down to Kuching and to attend my cousin's wedding.

The day dad and grandma arrive, we went for Heng Hua Mee. slurp~

Cousin's tea ceremony at Hilton. Grandma's foster grandson. Dad and I was staying at Majestic Hotel, so it was very near. Short distance. The wedding was beautiful. They night before wedding, we had a welcoming dinner at Sarawak Club for relatives and friends that flew in for the dinner. During the actual dinner, the theme, the setting, the coordination was simply beautiful. I would describe it as a quality dinner where he get's his people well engaged. =)

It also falls on my another "ah sou" birthday. A surprise birthday cake for her during lunch in the hotel.

After tea ceremony, Choo Choo (my closest cousin) and I went for lunch catch up with Ah Ying and Ling, (cousins). Choo Choo's ah boy at join us. We had vegetarian that day. I like the fry mushroom. It was yummy~ =D Then we went to pet shop to get Wen Xian's golden retriever some shampoo and head home.

In the evening, cousin and I brought grandma out to buy shoes. Then we were talking about Leong San. Leong San is a big house during the older days where my grandma's family, uncles auntys, great grandparents stayed. My dad stayed there before too during his younger days. I was so interested and kept asking bout stories and lifestyle during my grandma's years. Then grandma suddenly said, "let's go!" Vwow~~ I was a bit worried cause the house is in one of my uncle's house. I was worried that may disturb them. To keep it short, grandma was quite persistent to bring me there and share with me. *secretly, I was very very excited and I got my camera prepared 24/7* haha..

The house is very run down now. and the main door was locked. Eventhough we could only stand outside and watch, I was contented. Grandma pointed to me which room she use to stay. The activities they had in the big house. Who use to stay there. I enjoy talking to grandma. Like a little girl, curious of who is who, what they wear during those days, what entertainment do they do, what do they study in school, what dessert they eat, how did she met grandpa, unending questions.. haha.. Then she will tell me things like kids those days play "guli"(marbles), catch fish in the drain, walk to school, have 5 cents kolomee, they sew their own clothes, they wear "cha giak", they have people who come to the house selling "kok kok teng"which is a kind of candy, have ah pek ding dong etc etc. I bet kids nowadays don't know what is Ah Pek ding dong.. haha... ask you parents, maybe they know. haha..Dad use to say, my great grandma like to do "joget". which is a kind of Malay dance. And grandma picked up some Nyonya cooking which is usually spicey and pick up some Malay words after marrying to my grandfather. Well, I have some Nyonya blood though. And Nyonya food are good! =D tehehe... The stories goes on and on and.... Well, I'm proud to have Nyonya blood!

After finals that afternoon, Stephen, Gabriel, Alex, Takeshi and I went directly to Brunei for Sushi Lunch.. Yes! Desperately.. haha... It was to reward ourselves after the long weeks of studying.

At night, we had Farewell dinner at Miri Cafe for friends who were leaving for Ozy. Paul, Jun Wei and of course, my besty, Jun.

SCCS Golden Child Camp Voluntary

During the Summer holiday, I volunteered myself in an event call SCCS Golden Child Camp in Park City Everly Hotel. SCCS is Sarawak Cancer Children Society. It was a 2 days 1 night event. We were there to guide and take care of the children. I was helping in EmCee-ing for part of the session as well. I had lots of fun with the children in the camp. I also met new people like the volunteers and committee members. Though I don't know much about what has happen behind each family and children, but I'm simply glad that I could be part of the team to bring smiles for the children and grateful to have the opportunity to. =)

Alien Family had a get together Christmas Night as well at our place. Sis, mom, grandma and I prepared for the night. Alien Family started when we were in secondary school. It was amazing how we just clicked and got so close. Everyone is so caring to each other. Even though after secondary school, everyone is busy with our life, some working, some studying, yet the closeness is just undescribable. hehe..

2010 Christmas Season

Alrighty, my 2010 Christmas events.

We got some free ticket to watch Christmas Orchestra in KRP, presented by Miri Orchestra and Symphony Music school. Nice. =) I like watching people playing musical instruments, especially with passion. =) The music just touches people's heart more. It just make it even more special.
I went to Christmas Parade too at City Fan with my Godmother. See who I saw! haha.. He was there to officiate the opening.

Bear Shooting Night at Moment Sanctuary

Bro bought some bears back from KL and sent to Raff to do some photo shoots at his newly open Studio, Moment Sanctuary. It was a hang out night too at his place with mom and sisS. He decorated it very nicely. With different country theme. By any chance you are reading, you may be interested to go for a look. The place is really nice. It's at Yakin, just beside Pei Min school.

School Preparedness Program at Sg. Genaan

July 2010, I went to Kuala Binyo during the first day and Sg.Genaan the following day with MERCY to conduct a school preparedness Program. It took us 3 hours drive to Bintulu from Miri. Then about 2 to 3 hours Boat ride into the interior. It was quite adventurous. During SPP, we basically share with the students things to do and to be prepared for disaster. Example, flood. One of the area we went was actually on high tide during that time.

During the boat ride, we get to drop by one of the stop. It was a temple call "datuk kong". According to the local, it's a Chinese temple, with a muslim God. A boat sank under this temple many years ago and was cast into stone. Interesting yeh? ;)
The second day stop was to Sg.Genaan. During this visit, I got the opportunity to lead the SPP. It was my first time, nervous but Fun.. keeping the kids in control is a real skill that need to be mastered. haha..

In the afternoon, we were invited by the Headmaster for lunch. This is some craft work his wife does.

Look at that! Our activity was conducted at an open area. By the river. Ain't that cool?!! haha.. There was even a sampan riding pass. You can only see this during high tide.
We had some leisure activities with the school teacher too. How do u balance 6 nails on a nail? It took us quite some time though.

Thus, after that evening, we had our boat ride back Bintulu, and drove back Miri directly. It was a beautiful experience to have the chance to see another place. It was an eye opening experience. Example, it was my first time to see people using antennas connecting to cellphone for connection. Each house have their own little antennas which was so cool.. and light's off by 10pm and most of the people travel by boat. I enjoy the peacefulness and scenery. If I had the chance, I would love to come back again one day. =)

Children Methodist Home Visit 2010

Children Methodist Home Visit was one of the CV listed events for 2010. George Loong came up looking for volunteers to take up the OC post, so I grab it and with no regrets, I enjoyed it. It was half day event. There were around 10 to 15 of us who went there. The objective of the event was to do cleaning in and out of the house. We departed from Campus in the morning and finishes by noon.

Mater Dei Grotto

On the 8th of December, Godmother and I witness the dedication of Mater Dei Lutong new Grotto during the Solemnity of The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Holy Mass was celebrated by our Bishop There was also offering of lighted candles during the occasion.

Mulu Trip 2010

In June 2010, I joined a campus 2 days 1 night trip to Mulu. It was an awesomely awesome 2 thumbs up trip.

Boo!! We caved into limestone Caves. A few caves we went namely Deer Caves, Wind Caves, Langs Cave, Clearwater Cave and some more. All the caves have their own uniqueness and story. It is beautiful and fantastic.

After all the activities, we waited for the famous bats. We're hoping to see the bats to fly out of the caves in the evening time for their hunt. Unfortunately, it was drizzling, so the bats were not out.. haih.. I guess it means I got to go back to Mulu again sometime.. ;D

DAY 2
Early in the morning after breakfast, we went for sampan ride.. woohoo~~
I love this ride. The air is clean, the water is refreshing, the scenery is beautiful and the sound of the nature is delighting. I like putting the hand into the cool water too.

Inside the caves are huge and people from all over the world come to Malaysia to see this.
Finally, a long journey of walking and boat ride, we arrive out of a little hidden road and wala.... it was the airport in front of us.. haha.. we were like... what the ... lol... speechless.. and off we go, back to Miri with a great experience brought home.

Mooncake Festival 2009

2009 Mooncake Festival was quite a memorable one. For the pass few year(still schooling) I usually celebrate it with my secondary school friends. The lantern session happens after family dinner. We usually gathers at a friend house at a certain time and we will walk around the neighbourhood with our lanterns. You know la, girl friends can talk anything under the sky anyway any place even if it's whole night. After the long walk, we will have tea and mooncake outside her house, watching the moon.

As for 2009, I celebrated it with my Uni Friends. Believe it or not, Uni people play lanterns too. We were walking around the housing area and it feels great to see different group of friends with their lantern too. Some houses will have BBQ, some will have steamboat, things like that.

Okie, let me see where to start. Sorry for the delay of events and that I've been posting some years ago events. I got to get those left out post in this blog log.

Anyway, first of all, I'll like to credit my friends for taking part of the pictures. Thank you. Next, glad to know if there are still people reading, are there? So, Stay tune for the next semester post. haha.. Joking Joking.

I'm having my summer break now. Class is commencing soon on the 28/2. This summer, I hadn't been travelling and hadn't been active like my past holidays but it was still quite meaningful. I was in Bintulu for a month + to do some vacation training. I went to Kuching too for a few days trip. When I was back in Miri, I got to catch up and spend time with my friends and family. Helping around preparing for CNY. Next would be CNY. I could say I spend my 15 days of CNY fully. haha.. Visiting, eating, catching up... Besides, I went to Brunei for a day trip as well.

Basically, my 3 months wasn't really that adventurous but I'm content. :)

And, as we all know (I assume), today is Chap Goh Meh which is the last day of Chinese New Year. We invited some non-Mirian Uni friends over to celebrate together. I heard there is "Pao Gam" too tonight. According to Jeannie, by throwing the Mandarin Oranges in the Lake, it will bring "Tao Hua". lol... how if I throw 2??

So much so for that, enough crap. I'm predicting this semester will be a very different semester. One of the main reason is because my best friend has left for Perth. I'll download my Whatsapp soon. hehe..

I've been thinking a lot about my future during this 3 months. What do I want to achieve and what kind of life do I want in near future. Thus, I'm glad to have this 3 months to slow down my pace and give it a good thought. I wish everyone who is reading this to have a Meaningful and Great 2011 Year and hope I'm not too late to wish everyone Happy Chinese New Year too. hehe..

Obviously, it was Halloween. Boon had tickets that had to be sold by the Rotaract Club. They got very good sells with the offers. It was very nice of them to buy me a ticket cause the anti-social lazy bum bum didn't plan to go. haha Frankly, I'm very glad to have you guys as friends, other wise I'll be missing out so much.

Curtin has this cool cross culture program called the John Curtin Weekend. We had the chance to stay over and experience Sarawak Long Houses Native culture . It was extremely fun experience for me because everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The Long House we went was Rumah Johnson, a pretty modern one. The long house was concreted, had electricity supply, clean water supply and bathroom DOORS~phew.. hehe.. So it was not much problem of adapting to the environment compared to some other long houses my friends were placed, which are more rural. Jun was the Leader for this long house. Was I the photographer or the assistant? I couldn't remember. haha.

Due to communication barriers, we went there to help them entertain and basically translate for them. Yatchies from around the world, Europe, New Zealand, Australia...

1st Brunei Trip with Friends

My first Brunei Trip with friends. I've been there couple of times, but it was with my family. Well, seems like majority of Curtin Students usually go Brunei for Sushi, so do we. However, this time we drove all the way to Bandar, the main city. Thanks to Steve for his generosity to drive us too. Because he pops in Brunei very often, so he knows the place well.

Yup~~ That's what we had. Thanks to Steve. He is really good in making orders.

After the full Fishy lunch, we went off to The Empire Hotel and Country Club to have a look.

There you go~ A picture of it. Empire Hotel is a 6 stars Hotel. Luxury and Huge. The scenery is good. It's by the beach. By the way, Empire Hotel has its own Cinema and there are people who drives all the way here to watch movie. According to Sis, they even provide blanket for you. How cool is that? I wonder if they provide pillow and tip bits too.

Next stop, shopping and Ice Cream. The Blizzard ice-cream that people kept talking about. They will pass you the ice-cream up-side-down and if it drops, they will make you another one. Erm, to me, its just like any other McFlurry. haha xP But the choices are better though. Kit Kat Blizzard is nice. =)

It was a good trip especially with friends. So now I can say I went to "Foreign" Country with my friends. haha.. Basically, if you have any plans to visit Brunei, that is basically already 80% covered of what you can do there. haha Have fun!

Let me see, this is Curtin Race 2009 I think. xD it was first time organized in our campus. 1 car was allowed for 4 person. It was organized by the CV's, University Life and Frisbee Club. It was a one morning event, fun and tiring. xD Though we didn't won, but I'm proud to say we were the first to arrive. haha. Too bad Jun was not allow to participate because she was a CV committee. Nevermind Jun, we helped you to play on behalf. Besides, you are already part of the team. ;)

30 Hours Famine

This year, I've participated in 30 Hours Famine as a facilitator. We went fasting for 30 hours. Though was tiring, but it was great fun too! Got to meet some specially invited singers and lots of new participant friends. Especially secondary school students.

Hello bloggyyyy...it has been long since i've abandone you from the starting of the semester.
Well, im just dropping by to express and share my super happiness to any reader who is reading this. hehe. I've finished my exam!! woohoo~~ Im so excited this holiday as I've plan to do things that i really really want, which is rest. =D hopefully i'll spend it wisely. Last 3 months holiday, it was spend too wisely where i didnt really get much rest. :P cant wait to just sleep, eat, watch pps, lim teh with friends, sleep, eat, play with dog, lim teh with friends, pps again type of life. chilling~ hehehe.. So friends, if got lim teh, remember to find me ya. haha.

well, we finished our last paper Engineering Physics yesterday. Then Takeshi, Gabriel and I went out to enjoy enjoy. hehe Too bad Stephen went back earlier to KK because we all satu geng. We went to Parkson for McD lunch, then went for Archery, then went to David for some pool game, then went to Ice City to try out the yummy-licious ice, then went to Boulevard arcade to play Time Crisis and Basketball shooting, then went to Siamese Secret for dinner. Woohoo~ Awesome day~

Tonight, Mercy is having a BBQ for volunteers. Will be going down to help out at the HQ. Tomorrow, I'll be leaving for KK around 5 days, then down to Labuan with friends. Will be meeting up my KK and 1 Sandakan mates too. Interval will have around 2 weeks for myself. *clap clap clap* tehehehe.. Then 1 week before class commence, will be going to Kuching with friends again. So, I think thats pretty much of my holidays. =D

As for now, I think I shall stop here~ stay tune for my next semester post. hahaha.. jkjk. we'll see, we'll see. ;)

First of all, I would like to say, Hello Mr.Radzi!!! if you're reading. haha.

Well, I've been having 3 months summer holiday after exam. An opportunity was given to me to work temporary in Mercy Malaysia. Was very fortunate. I work as an administrative officer for Mercy Malaysia Sarawak Chapter. Throughout this, I've learn a lot of things, big or small, from planning, filing, organising a mission, taking initiative, communication skills, finance, even to pay bills. haha. Of course, I wouldn't be able to learn so much too if it isn't for the people around me who support me. Thanks to Aunty Jennie, Matron, Kah Yie, mommy, Natalie, Radzi, Suren's mom, Johnstan, Kasuma, Uncle Ben and Rita for the guidance and support. Thank you. =)

Fulfilling Summer 2009/2010

Hello guys! i'm back! =D

Well, I'm here to share about what I've done for the pass 3 months during my summer holiday. Before I begin, last semester was a satisfying semester, and I'm satisfied with my result too. Alright, so much so for that.

1. Right after exam, I participated in an event known as the Asian Youth Day. It was held in the Philippines this year. It is held every 3 years. The last one was in Hong Kong and the coming one is in Korea. We started off in Manila for few days, it was called Days in the Diocese. We got to be adopted by the Philippino's family. My foster family was great! Will upload the pictures on top post later. =)

2. After the event, I took up a part time job working for MERCY Malaysia as an adminstrative officer for 2 months. It was a very meaningful and fruitful experience. I've met a lot of new friends throughout this wonderful experience too.

3. Adding to that, I've went for backpacking with some of my friends too in west Malaysia. We covered some of the places of northen east, starting from KL(3 night) -> Ipoh(1 night) -> Taiping(1 night) -> Penang(2 nights) -> Langkaw(day trip) -> Penang(3 nights). Jun from Labuan, Boon from Penang, and Me from Miri.

4. I continued my work till 2 days before Chinese New Year, and yes, it was Chinese New Year celebration. This year has been a very different CNY for my family and me. This year, we stayed back in Miri. It has been very nice too experiencing the new year mood in Miri. Went to lots of visiting and I'm very glad to be able to catch up with a lots of friends.

5. Today, is 21st of February. I'll be going to Labuan on the 23rd of February for 2 nights. It was a coincedence that dad is going there for work, so I took the opportunity to pop in and visit my good friend and her family, Jun. =)

Class will commence in 1st of March, and there goes my 3 months holiday. Somewhere in my heart, i still miss the time laying around, relax and do nothing. Well, I still have a weekend before class starts? haha. I seldom hang out much with friends nowadays, i don't go clubbing, i don't drink, play computer games, I seldom play sports with friends nowadays. I seldom chat. During free time, I stay home, laying around, usually spend time alone or with family. Watch series, some reading, do some house chores, do some jogging, sleep and stuff. As though something is missing. Well, I'm happy to have good friends and best family ever in the world. Sometimes, I wonder, what is life all about? I just, just don't know whether I'm living a normal university student life like others? How bout your life? How are you living it?

Last night was The Circus organise by JCLA (John Curtin Leadership Academy) members. The event was organise to raise fun for the Long Makabar people. I must say, it was great despite of using only 40 days to complete. Especially the part when they started playing Yiruma's River Flow in You. Melted.

Dinner of a Poor

Today, has been as usual, an ordinary nice day, but Today was special.

After Toastmasters' meeting, I had dinner with my family. That time, there were like a party going on with lots of kids in the restaurant. It looks really simple. A few tables joined, couple of bottle of soya bean sorts of drinks and some adults. After sitting down, i realise they were actually celebrating Mooncake Festival because I saw the kids holding lantern and some mooncakes were on the table. Some of the young adults were playing with the kids, guessing riddles. The one who can answer, will get a small little party pack gift. I think got a few looks like teenager. The kids were very excited and graping the opportunity to the fullest so to have the chance to answer.

While ordering for dinner, mom asked who are those kids. The auntie said they are orphans. I was shocked as it was my first time seeing real orphans. My little heart almost crack while seeing them playing so happily. I started to drop into deep thoughts while waiting for food and while having my dinner. It was really just a very simple party, celebrating Mooncake Festival. There were only smiles hanging on each of the beautiful faces of the children.

While having nice food served on the table, I felt so poor, so poor compared to them. I also started to feel so grateful to have such a great family. I'm grateful my parents didn't give up during all the hard times, I'm grateful I am given education, I'm grateful to have food on the table, I'm grateful to have bed to sleep on and many many that i couldn't stop being grateful of...You know, sometimes, people are so fortunate till we forgot to be grateful. Sometimes, a Ferrari may not be enough to make a rich man to be happy, but a broken bicycle could be the best "Ferrari" to a poor little boy to feel like the most luckiest person in the whole wide world. Frankly, I nearly burst into tears. I felt that the kids are so strong. Every time i turn my head back to see them, I felt an urge to cry. They are much stronger, and stronger they are than any others.

I was poor, but these little kids showed me what is rich. I guess, to learn how to say thank you and to be grateful in every little things, and even a challenge or an unlucky day, will slowly build our wealth. I guess there are much more for me to learn....

As for now, I will make sure to remember their beautiful smiles in heart when I feel weak, because I am as fortunate as them.

Our Big Day

Today, is me and grandma's big day.

Around a week ago, my 80+ year old loving grandma came back to Miri. Early this morning, I went and visited grandma, in the hospital. She was admitted since 3 days ago. She was suppose to have her operation yesterday, but they changed it to today. Actually, her operation was suppose to be done few months back, but the doctor said due to her age, it may be a risk, and she was just recovering from the inflammation. After this morning, I'm starting to worry le. I pray that everything will be ok.

Today is also a big day for me, midterm is tonight. Grandma's operation starts at 7pm, most probable going in at around 6 for preparation. I won't be able to be there with grandma tonight before she goes in the cold operation room. haih.. My midterm is at 6.30pm. I told grandma le.

We are going to Jia You Together~ by the time i finish my exam, most probable grandma's operation will be over. I wish everything will be fine.

Friends, please keep my grandma in your prayers. We need it..

I also pray for grandma to be strong, we will be here for you..I love my grandma...

Clock Making

Have been wanting to do a DIY clock, cause the wall on top of my bed very empty. Wanted to do a wall clock. So, yesterday had pull up my socks and went on the net to search how to do it, then i tried it out today. hehehe..

Plan A was to take the mechanism out, and do the clock myself. Which is like a wall clock.

Then i realise i couldnt hang it without the body, haih.. So proceed to plan B.

Plan B, to put an abstract picture or pattern in the clock, but the "hands" of the clock couldnt take out. According to the video clip i see, can oh.. Its alright, Elaine Wee ain't giving up yet.

So i just proceed with my mini project. yes!

First, DISMENTLE the clock.. Wee~~~ Next, painted the body of the clock with light blue. Paint the ring with PVA glue so that it looks shiny and I also put some shiny beads. After that, I made the 12 of pattern paper(to indicate the numbers on the wall) with some slightly hard paper. Then painted it with PVA glue also.

It looks kinda sei kia, does it? Hopefully next time will look better (if there is another next time). haha.. Rainforest World Music Festival 09 Kuching

Yipee~ I'm back to Miri again! Just came back from Rainforest World Music Festival in Kuching and brought back good good memories. With couple of friends, we went there to help out as security. Well, till now i still think the world "Security" is pretty "Big" word to use on me. Anyway, we "departed" on Tuesday night,

and reach Wednesday morning. Roughly 14 hours journey. Goodness me, butt also flat le. Plus, there were cockroaches in the couch! =.="" We went with the dogs too.

haha. Very intelligent,loyal and "man" doggies. With their master, they were at the backside of the couch.

The awesome part was, we were staying in the same resort with the performers from all over the world(Canada/China, Poland, Korea, France, Finland, Malaysia, Africa, USA etc) , media people from all over the world, volunteers and Sarawak Tourism Board staff. I love the group from France. Glad that i got to meet couple of new friends too. People from different background, career, interest and more. It sure was a life time experience. After the last night performance, we had an appreciation night dinner in the resort ballroom with all the performers and staff. That was basically the total difference from being a guest to a volunteer staff. We got to meet all sorts of people. Memories Captured! (Not my dslr btw)

Though it's tiring(stand around 10 hours a day), but i never regretted. I earn back more than given, from this experience. =) Hopefully can join again next time~Perhaps it's gonna be one of the event in my planner next year. It's more than words can say, if wanna know it, feel and experience it! =)

A Night Out

Sorry for not much updates this semester. Last Friday, Jun, Yun, Jia, Boon and "Hilang" finished their exam.
Saturday, they went out whole day. I had family friend dinner at night, so i joined them for KTV after that in the evening and had lots of fun. =)

Forever and Ever

hmm.. as you can see, i haven't been updating for quite something d. hehe

Well, I'm here to share a movie I am looking forward to watch. It's an old film entitled Forever and Ever. I came across this movie few years back during one boring evening when I was lying down on my big cushion on the floor and going through the TV program. It caught my attention. The only thing i remember from that movie is a tune played in the movie. A simple melody which I really love. However I didnt remember the movie title as well as who the actors were. Thus, I tried to search, but I didnt have enough information. The movie touch my little heart at that age. The boy who grew up in a different environment compared to other normal children. He had haemophilia, blood disorder disease and he has to take up injection frequently.It was painful but he always stay optimistic that miracle will happen. That time, it makes me realise how fortunate I was, to be born healthy and I felt so much to be there to comfort and help him, Tam Siu Fu. I remember most of the part of the movie till now.

It was till one afternoon, I saw the advertisment of this movie few days ago when I was accompanying grandma watching her Taiwanese series. I was so thrilled with it, having known to have the chance to watch again and to finally get to know this movie more. I have search in the internet. Sadly, not much info about it, but seems that it is an award winning movie.

Well, I bet it's gonna be a different feeling again watching through the movie. Looking forward. Hopefully, it will still be as inspiring as it has to the little girl few years back.

Sydney World Youth Day Event

during my 1 month holiday, i went to sydney for world youth day event. It was a good experience. Over 500 thousand people from all over the world were there. We stayed in Immaculate Heart of Mary's Primary school. There were like 200 ppl staying there, from china, from canada, from fiji n so on. On the last 2 days, we went for little shopping n sight seeing. Went to park n blue mountain. Down with flu and cough when back to miri.

Today is Easter. Happy Easter everyone! =)

After mass and breakfast, dad, mom and I decided to go to LAKU cause today they open to public to visit. I saw it last night, they were promoting.
With the Chemist, bringing us and giving briefing.

A night out with family

Well, easter was near, so sis was helping out in Easter Camp. She's participating in the sketch as well as helping out as a facilitator. Bro went to KK, so left dad, mom, sis and I. Whole morning, we were moving things, cause sis's moving room to bro house which is around 10 to 15 metres away? nearby.. still, kinda miss miss de... after whole day, night we went out for dinner at Xin Shun Jin.

Yes, it is, zz Curtin Open Zay..haha.. So, as you can all in yellow, we are not digi, on the other hand, we are Curtin Volunteers for this event. :) All i can say, exhausting, meaningful and fun.

Around evening, it suddenly rain heavily. And i mean, HEAVILY. Cause i still had coupons left, and stalls were closing due to the rain. I ran to see what i can get. So i ended up at Oo's cheerleading group buying the last few mashmellow dipped in chocolate fountain and some pancakes too. Jun and Boon was with me. We were soaked. Then my friend called me, seems like they have been looking for me whole afternoon d. And i got a surprise.. haha.. A good friend of mine gave pink roses. it was beautiful. Thanks. Actually, it was my first time too receiving flowers from friend. haha.. It sure was memorable Open Day.. in the rain.

After that, Jun, Jia Jia, Boon and I stayed back to watch Curtin Idol and Alan RoadShow. Curtin Idol, suprise to know there are quite number of talented singers in our campus. Some of the judges were from Halo cafe. Alan and Serina as well as their students have live hair styling and cutting on the stage. Volunteers were curtin student. Kinda funny too, looking at Jun, when he cut the girls hair, as though Jun terasa the pain.. her face ah.. lol.. kek tiok..

Then, finally when everything finishes, there were fireworks. Lovely. Just reminds me of every fireworks i watch before. Miss it. Then Jun and I met up with the other CV for dinner. we then went second round at Dessert.

Ta da~~~ and that was zz day. =)

That night, mom and dad decided to go for leg massage. I know it's painful, but always listen to mom say what a good sleep she always have after the massage. So me, itchy bum(in hokkien haha), decided to join. Wanted to try too, so mom just let me.

actually brought my rubik to play de, end up, cannot concentrate. mom was sitting beside me, laughing...i think she couldnt stand my 72 变 de faces expression.. haha.. at the same time, dad got her a new toy call, the CAMERA... shes really getting the hang of it these days.. so, i guess gonna have plenty of candid these days.. haha..

Oh yeah~! it sure is gggooooodddd~~~ smile with tears.. haha.. almost, almost..not yet.

According to one of my friend, he said white valentine is a day where the guys show response if they are interested to the girls who gave them present during actual valentine day. I remembered that day, we were having CV gathering event. After whole day long, went home for family dinner. Then went out for second round. Jeannie and Jun came and fetch me. yadah yadah yadah.. we then came into conversation about white valentine. Then as usual, crazy ideas came up.. we went to Survey and bought each other White valentine gifts.. haha..

A meaningful experience at Old Folks Home cleaning

today, I join Uni Life to clean up the old folks home. It was a beautiful day. =D Morning, I went to Jun's house, then we went for breakfast. After that, we waited at the bus stop with Eleena for the bus to arrive.

When we reach the Old Folks Home, it wasn't like what i expected with big welcome and so on, unlike previously when I went carolling with fellow church friends. It was just like any other ordinary day. Some reading newspaper, some sitting there, some chit chatting with friends, some resting.. As soon as we reach, we kick off with our task immediately after being told what to do.

Jeannie and I were in charge of sweeping the floor of their rooms. We were told that there are 39 people staying here. Sweeping the floor was fast. So after that, i tried to help around. For a sec, i went and wiped the window with Anne and Jun, then i helped Vincent to mop the floor, then helped Gerain wiped the fan, helped Anso move the mosquito netting, as usual, making myself at home, just walking up and down, singing, having fun as well as helping around. It sure was fun working with friends.

I also met different type of people. One uncle, he was really friendly and helpful too. I remembered he was talking to Jeannie a lot as she was able to communicate with his dialect. Jeannie told me he told her a lot of things. His family, and giving advice to Jeannie that she needs to study well, find the right person in life and so on, very sincerely, like a father or a grandpa perhaps.

There was another uncle, we offered to cleaned his room, but he insisted not to, but of course he rejected very politely. We tried to let him know it is not troublesome for us, because we are volunteers. However, he was persistence. So, we just smile and said ok. I believe he has his reason. That uncle look very firm and healthy, his also very nice and polite.

I really wonder, what kind of life they had, they now having and they are going to have? what they once have, how did they end up here. Frankly, i dont think all is for negative reason. Everyone have their reason. While sweeping through each room, i saw the folks belonging. One of the room, i saw a drawn heart hanging right beside the bed. It was like a kids drawing. I started to think, where is the person who drawn the heart which meant so much to the person sleeping on that bed every night. I was so touched by it. I try to imagine what kind of people and life they once have. They lies a story behind every bed. Still, i have no courage to ask and i know it is left for me to choose what kind of life i want for my coming future. Destiny is in our hand.

And another Uncle, when i saw him, a nun( we call sister) was helping this uncle, leading him to his room. He was mumbling and smiling, walking unsteadily. When Vincent was busy with other thing, I ask Vincent whether i can mop that room. While mopping, i saw sister was helping him to dress his wound. Apparently, he was drunken and he fell down when he was on the way back. There was blood over him and part of his skin was badly peeled. According to them, it has been quite frequent to see the uncle getting drunk. I had a casual chat with sister too while mopping. She's from Sibu and just came down to help out at Miri for about a month. I was amazed by her kind heart and patience. In this very corner of the world, not knowing there is such a beautiful lady in heart, serving and helping, not asking for a single credit or recognition. Isn't life beautiful?

There wasn't much of us i would say, but it was a meaningful morning to me. Life could be so imperfect at times, yet so beautiful. Perhaps, it is only when we are poor, we will then realise, who is, or what is that really meant something to us. Just hope it wont be too late by that time. It was an eye opening to me. Oh ya, i really wanted to thanks Anso sincerely for this morning, to give me the opportunity to join and i'm glad i didn't missed it. =) Thanks.
